Folklore

Pixies, giants, elves, bogeymen, trolls, goblins and dwarves are present in the UK’s folklore. The most famous stories are from King Arthur and The Loch Ness Monster. King Arthur was a legendary British leader who led the defence of Britain against Saxon invaders. The Ness Monster is a creature reputed to habit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.

Halloween is the most famous folkloric holiday in the United Kingdom and the whole world. It’s celebrated on the night of 31 October. It has roots in the Gaelic festival Samhain, where the Gaels believed the border between this world and the otherworld disappear and the dead could revisit the mortal world.
